The 10 Zambian Kwacha banknote, issued between 1986 and 1988, features several distinctive characteristics on both sides.
On the obverse, the banknote displays an eagle, the national symbol, as well as the coat of arms of Zambia. The portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda, a central political figure of the country, is positioned on the right. The inscriptions are in Latin, with the mention "BANK OF ZAMBIA" at the top. A promise to pay the bearer ten kwacha is also inscribed, committing the Bank of Zambia. The series of this banknote is identified by the letter D and the number 129, referenced as P.26e in numismatic catalogs.
The reverse of the banknote features the Bank of Zambia building, located in the center left. As on the obverse, the inscriptions are in Latin, with the repeated mention "BANK OF ZAMBIA" and the face value "TEN KWACHA".
The dimensions of the banknote are 143 mm in length and 72 mm in width. This banknote is part of a series issued during the presidency of Kenneth Kaunda, reflecting the political and economic context of Zambia at that time.
