The 10 Dong banknote from the 18-A series, issued in 1962 by South Vietnam, features a front side dominated by dark red prints. The serial number, in dark blue, is split and positioned on either side of a rosette displaying the denomination in words. On the left of the banknote, an agricultural worker is seen holding a sheaf of rice, accompanied by a farmer with a hoe. The right side is adorned with a rosette indicating the nominal value in letters. The bottom of the banknote is reserved for the signature. The whole is enhanced by an ornamental guilloche pattern as well as rosettes indicating the denomination.
On the back, also printed in dark red, the central motif represents the gate of the tomb of Lê V?n Duy?t. Ornamental guilloche patterns and denomination rosettes complete the design.
This banknote commemorates important figures and places. The farmers and the sheaf of rice symbolize the importance of agriculture in the economy and life of South Vietnam. The tomb of Lê V?n Duy?t, a mandarin of the royal court of Gia Long, testifies to the historical and cultural heritage of the country.
The dimensions of the banknote are 130 mm in length and 65 mm in width.
