The C?nh Th?nh Thông B?o is a Vietnamese coin with a value of one v?n, issued between 1792 and 1801 during the C?nh Th?nh era, corresponding to the reign of Nguy?n Quang To?n, the last ruler of the Tây S?n dynasty.
The C?nh Th?nh period (1792-1801) was marked by profound instability within the Tây S?n kingdom. Following the death of Nguy?n Hu? in 1792, his young son Nguy?n Quang To?n succeeded him amid internal power struggles among the Tây S?n leaders. Meanwhile, Nguy?n Ánh, a rival claimant supported by French forces under the influence of Bishop Pigneau de Béhaine, intensified his offensives from the south of the country. Tensions with China remained latent, while internal conflicts considerably weakened the regime's military capacity. In 1801, Nguy?n Ánh captured Hu?, bringing the C?nh Th?nh era to an end and precipitating the collapse of the Tây S?n dynasty. The following year, he founded the Nguy?n dynasty under the reign name Gia Long, definitively unifying Vietnam.
