Slovenia's euro coins have been legal tender in the euro zone since 1 January 2007. The euro replaced the former national currency, the tolar. The design of these coins was announced on 16 October 2005 and they were created by the artists Miljenko Licul Maja Licul and Janez Boljka. Slovenia's euro coins all have different designs.
Brillant Universel corresponds to the English expression Brilliant Uncirculated. These coins are minted using new tooling to ensure superior quality. They are more highly polished than normal coins and have never been put into circulation.
