Silver coin minted in Saint Petersburg in 1899 under the reign of Tsar Nicholas II (1894?1917), the last Emperor of Russia. Issued at the height of the Tsarist Empire, this 50 kopeks piece belongs to one of the most iconic series of Russian coinage from the Belle Époque, with a mintage of 15,442,021 pieces for this AG year.

The obverse bears the full title of Nicholas II: By the Grace of God, Nicholas II Emperor and Autocrat of all the Russias. The reverse features the majestic double-headed heraldic eagle holding the imperial orb and scepter, surrounded by the coats of arms of the provinces of the Empire, with the value 50 KOPEKS 1899. The edge bears the inscription Pure silver 2 zolotniki 10.5 doli with the initials AG ? Apollon Grashof, Saint Petersburg mint master.

Medal alignment. Demonetized upon the fall of the Russian Empire in 1917.
