Description
The 2010 Canada BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) mint set is a complete set consisting of six coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, whose main facility is located in Ottawa. These coins have never been put into circulation, giving them an optimal state of preservation, characteristic of strikes intended for collector series.
Contains: 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 Cent coins and 1 and 2 Dollar coins
The issue year 2010 corresponds to a notable period for Canada, which notably hosted the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games that same year. The set brings together all the common denominations of the Canadian monetary system, thus forming a representative collection of the country's annual numismatic production.
The obverse of each coin in this set features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of England and the Commonwealth, in accordance with the Canadian numismatic tradition of placing the portrait of the reigning sovereign on all of the country's coins. The portrait used in 2010 is the one created by sculptor Susanna Blunt, adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint from 2003 onwards.
The reverse of each coin features the iconic motifs associated with the various Canadian face values, such as the maple leaf, the beaver, the Bluenose schooner and the caribou ? symbols deeply rooted in Canadian national identity, most of whose designs are inherited from the works of engraver Emanuel Hahn.
The Brilliant Uncirculated quality guarantees coins struck with particular care, featuring surfaces free of circulation marks, with sharp relief and precisely reproduced details. This type of presentation in a mint set also ensures the physical protection of the coins against any external alteration, thus preserving their original condition.
