The 5 Soles banknote, issued in 1956, belongs to the J23 series. It was manufactured by the printer Thomas de la Rue in London.
The front of the banknote features a dominant green color on a uniform light blue background. In the center, there is a representation of Liberty seated, holding a shield and a staff. The banknote's serial number is printed at the top left and right. The inscriptions in Spanish read: "EL BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR CINCO SOLES DE ORO DE ACUERDO COM LA LEY Nº 10535 LIMA, 22 DE MARZO DE 156".
The back of the banknote is printed in green. It features the national coat of arms of Peru in the center. The inscriptions, also in Spanish, read: "BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERU CINCO SOLES DE ORO".
The dimensions of the banknote are 142 mm in length and 67 mm in width. The face value is 5 soles de oro, the monetary unit of the time. All inscriptions are written in the Latin alphabet.
This banknote was issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru.
