The 20 Kyats banknote from Myanmar, issued in 1994, features distinct characteristics on both sides.
On the obverse, a Chinthe is positioned on the left. The Chinthe is a mythical creature, often depicted as a lion, which is an important symbol in Burmese iconography. Inscriptions in Burmese indicate the name of the central bank, namely "????????????????????????" (Central Bank of Myanmar). The face value of "20" is indicated in Arabic numerals and Burmese numerals (??). The inscription "???????????" specifies the value in words: "twenty kyats".
The reverse of the banknote illustrates an elephant fountain located in Yangon's People's Park. This fountain is a notable landmark of the city and depicts elephants, animals revered in Burmese culture. The face value "20" is repeated in Arabic numerals in opposite corners. The inscriptions "CENTRAL BANK OF MYANMAR" and "TWENTY KYATS" indicate the issuing central bank and the value of the banknote in English, respectively.
The banknote's watermark features a Chinthe, along with the face value, visible when exposed to light. The dimensions of the banknote are 145 mm in length and 70 mm in width.
The series of this banknote is identified by the letters "DA".
