The 10 kyats banknote from Myanmar, issued in 1997, is distinguished by its dominant purple color. It measures 130 mm in length and 60 mm in width. The front of the banknote features a Chinthe, a Burmese mythical creature, a protective symbol often depicted as a lion. There are also inscriptions in Burmese, including the name of the Central Bank of Myanmar (????????????????????????) and the face value of the banknote, « ??????? », meaning « ten kyats ». The numeric value « 10 » is printed in Arabic numerals in two locations.
The back of the banknote illustrates a Karaweik, an ornate and mythical royal barge, often used in ceremonies and festivals. The inscriptions in English indicate « CENTRAL BANK OF MYANMAR » at the top, as well as the face value « TEN KYATS » at the bottom, with the numeric value « 10 » placed on either side of the Karaweik representation.
The banknote's watermark reveals a Chinthe head, reproducing the main motif on the front. Next to the Chinthe head, the value « 10 » is also inscribed in Burmese numerals (??). This banknote is part of the DA series. All of these graphic and textual elements contribute to the visual identity and security of the 10 kyats banknote.
