The 100 Malawi kwacha banknote, issued in 2020, pays tribute to James Frederick Sangala, a prominent figure in the country's history. This banknote is part of the CS Series and is referenced as P.65 in numismatic catalogs.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of James Frederick Sangala (1900-1974). The background shows the headquarters building of the Reserve Bank of Malawi in Lilongwe, with a depiction of the rising sun. A scene of fishermen at work is also illustrated, as well as a Livingston's cichlid (Nimbochromis livingstonii), a fish locally called Kalingono.
The back of the banknote highlights the College of Medicine in Blantyre. A stethoscope, a symbol of medical training and health services, is also present. The logo of the Reserve Bank of Malawi is included.
The banknote measures 128 mm in length and 64 mm in width.
