 The accession to the throne of Grand Duke Henri in October 2000 accompanied the turn of the millennium. On October 7 of that year, he succeeded Grand Duke Jean and was sworn in before the Chamber of Deputies. Throughout his reign, Grand Duke Henri has always defended the values of tolerance, respect, dignity and solidarity.
