The 10 Maloti banknote from Lesotho, issued in 2021, is part of a commemorative series that highlights important royal figures in the country's history. This banknote features on its obverse the portraits of Kings Moshoeshoe II, Letsie III, and Moshoeshoe I, accompanied by the national coat of arms of Lesotho. The inscriptions are in Latin, with the mention of the Central Bank of Lesotho and the face value of the banknote.
The reverse of the banknote is adorned with cosmos flowers. The face value is also inscribed in Latin and in the local language, Sesotho (Maloti a Leshome). The watermark depicts King Moshoeshoe I wearing a top hat, as well as an electrotype "10" with a basotho hat and cornerstones.
This banknote was printed by De La Rue and put into circulation on December 23, 2021. It is distinguished from previous issues by improved security features, including tactile features for the visually impaired, which resulted in size adjustments on some denominations. In addition, the banknotes are coated with SICPAPROTECT varnish, which offers antibacterial and antiviral properties. The dimensions of the banknote are 132 mm in length and 70 mm in width.
