Description

The 50 tyiyn banknote issued by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in 1993 is a low-value denomination, reflecting the country's period of economic transition after its independence. This banknote, measuring 90 mm by 70 mm, features a simple but distinctive design rooted in Kyrgyz national iconography.

The obverse of the banknote highlights an eagle, an important symbol in Kyrgyz culture, representing freedom, strength, and independence. The inscription "REPUBLIC OF KYRGYZSTAN" appears in Cyrillic, followed by the face value "FIFTY TYIYN", also in Cyrillic. The use of Cyrillic reflects the linguistic and cultural heritage of the region, linked to its Soviet past.

On the reverse, the banknote features an intricate national ornament, typical of Kyrgyz art, with the Tündük symbol at the center. The Tündük, the upper part of a yurt, symbolizes home, family, and cultural roots. As on the obverse, the denomination "REPUBLIC OF KYRGYZSTAN" and the value "FIFTY TYIYN" are inscribed in Cyrillic.

This banknote was printed by De La Rue, a renowned printing company specializing in the production of banknotes and secure documents. The choice of De La Rue as the printer underscores the importance attached to quality and security during the production of this currency. The year of issue, 1993, is crucial as it marks a period of significant economic and political changes for Kyrgyzstan, which sought to establish its own monetary identity after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
