This banknote is a specimen of 1000 francs issued by the National Bank of Katanga in 1960. It is a historical financial document from the short-lived State of Katanga.
On the front of the note, a portrait of Moise Tshombe can be seen on the right side. The name of the issuing institution, "BANQUE NATIONALE DU KATANGA", is printed at the top, followed by the face value "MILLE FRANCS". The words "PAYABLES A VUE" indicate that the note was convertible into cash on demand. The front is written in Latin script.
The back of the note features an illustration of a building on the left. As on the front, the name of the bank and the face value are printed, as well as the mention of payment on sight. The script used is also Latin.
This 1000 franc banknote specimen bears the serial number "ZZ 991450".
