The 250 Iraqi Dinar banknote, issued in 2020, features a front side with light blue and dark blue as the dominant colors, applied on a multicolored background. A prominent visual element is the representation of an astrolabe, a historical astronomical instrument designed to model the universe in a portable manner, positioned on the right side of the banknote.
The banknote incorporates a solid security thread, on which demetallized Arabic text is affixed. In the upper left, a recessed circle is perceptible, serving as a tactile mark for the visually impaired.
On the back, the banknote depicts the minaret of the Great Mosque of Samarra, a structure dating from the 9th century AD and located in Samarra, Iraq. This minaret is a significant architectural element of this historical site.
The banknote's watermark represents a horse's head. The physical dimensions of the banknote are 130 mm in length and 66 mm in width.
