Description

This coin is a circulating 2 pence coin issued by the government of Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory. It is part of the series dated from 2023 to 2024.

The coin is made of copper-plated steel. It weighs 7.13 grams and has a diameter of 25.90 mm. It is round in shape.

The obverse of the coin features an uncrowned head of King Charles III, facing left. A Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading "CHARLES · III · KING OF GIBRALTAR · TWO PENCE". The date of issue, "· 2023 ·", is inscribed below the portrait. The engraver of this side is Raphael David Maklouf.

The reverse of the coin depicts Windsor Castle. A crown is positioned at the top and another at the bottom of the central motif. The face value of the coin is 2 pence, representing 0.02 Gibraltar pounds, which is equivalent to about 0.023 euros. The pound is the decimal currency used since 1971.
