After 40 years of electoral mandates Jacques Chirac will have left his mark on French political life. This was evident when he died, which caused great emotion among the population. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Monnaie de Paris is minting 10 and 20 euro coins in his honour, as well as a BU euro miniset on the first anniversary of his death. These are the first and only official coins issued by France dedicated to its former president.

The 10 and 20 euro coins have identical sides. They show the profile of Jacques Chirac. The solemnity of the politician's pose refers to the iconography of his election to the Presidency of the French Republic in 1995. Jacques Chirac is surrounded by symbols that have marked his history, such as his Seal, which refers to his two presidential mandates, and Chupicuaro, the emblem of the Quai Branly Museum, which recalls his passion for primitive arts. The name "Jacques Chirac" and his dates are also visible on the face of these coins.

The year 2020 and the RF are found at the top of the face. The reverse shows the face value surrounded by two branches, one of oak and the other of laurel, which evoke the Euro symbol. The entire reverse design is framed by an assembly of lines representing the Hexagon. The 10 euro coin is made of silver 333‰. It has a weight of 17 grams and a diameter of 31 millimetres. It has a mintage of 75,000 pieces.
