Description

This 1 franc banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Montluçon-Gannat, France, with ministerial authorization dated October 5, 1915.

The front of the banknote displays the mention "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE MONTLUÇON - GANNAT" at the top. In the center, you can read "UN FRANC", indicating the face value. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President are also present, authenticating the banknote. The series "B" followed by a unique identification number (112563 in this example) allows tracking of the issue. The name of the printers, "HERBIN & BOUCHÉ MONTLUÇON", appears at the bottom, identifying those responsible for the production of the banknote.

The back of the banknote repeats the identification of the issuer, "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE MONTLUÇON - GANNAT", as well as the date of the ministerial authorization, "Autorisation ministérielle du 5 octobre 1915". An important mention specifies that the banknote had to be presented for reimbursement within five years from October 10, 1915. The name of the printer, "Fernand Herbin & Henri Bouché Imprimeurs, Montluçon, France", is also indicated, confirming the origin and manufacture of the banknote.

The text is written in Latin on both sides of the banknote. This banknote represents a testimony of French local economic history during the First World War.
