This French banknote with a face value of 50 new francs was issued in 1959. It belongs to series T.2 and is associated with the historical figure of Henri IV, King of Navarre and France.
The front of the banknote features a portrait of Henri IV in the center, with the Pont-Neuf visible in the background. The coat of arms of Paris is positioned on the left, while that of Béarn is on the right. The inscriptions "BANQUE DE FRANCE" and "Cinquante Nouveaux Francs" are also present. André Marliat is the engraver of this part of the banknote, while Jean Lefeuvre is the designer. The inscriptions are in Latin script.
On the back, we find again the bust of Henri IV, this time centered with the Château de Pau visible on the right and a view of the Pyrenees from the heights on the left. We can read the inscriptions "BANQUE DE FRANCE" and "50". A legal text, Article 139 of the Penal Code, is also reproduced, mentioning the penalties for counterfeiting or falsifying banknotes. Georges Léon Égalité Beltrand is the engraver of the back, and Jean Lefeuvre is also the designer. The inscriptions are in Latin script.
The banknote's watermark represents the head of Marie de Médicis, presented in three-quarter view. The banknote measures 160 mm in length and 85 mm in width.
