This collector's coin is struck in 999 gold and weighs 7.78 grams. It has a diameter of 22 millimeters.
It was issued by France with a face value of 50 euros. The year of issue is 2026 and its mintage is limited to 500 copies.
This coin is linked to the world of the Lord of the Rings and more specifically to Peter Jackson. The engravings were made by the engraving workshop of the Monnaie de Paris from illustrations from the graphic charter of the Lord of the Rings. It illustrates the climax of the whole story, where the adventure ends but where paradoxically everything seems lost.
On the obverse, Frodo is depicted overwhelmed by the journey he has made and frightened by Sauron's growing grip on him through the Ring. He sees Mount Doom and realizes that there will probably be no return trip. The lidless eye of Sauron, perched atop the tower of Barad-Dûr, scrutinizes the heroes' progress.
The reverse of the coin features the One Ring overlooking the Eye of Sauron. The inscription of the Ring, written in Black Speech and traced in Tengwar, is revealed by the flames of Mount Doom. The face value, the hallmarks of the Monnaie de Paris and the mention RF (République Française) are also engraved on the reverse.
