The obverse of the assignat features the face value "5" highlighted in the center. It also contains the date of issue and the national motto of the French Republic: "Unité Indivisibilité de la République, Liberté Egalité Faternité ou la Mort". An inscription specifies that the assignat was created on 10 Brumaire of year 2 of the French Republic. Legal warnings are included, informing that "La Loi Punit de Mort le Contrefacteur" (The Law Punishes the Counterfeiter with Death) and that "La Nation Récompense le Dénonciateur" (The Nation Rewards the Denouncer).
The reverse of the assignat is blank. A watermark is present, displaying the value "5" and the monogram "RF" (République Française) in a circle.
The assignat measures 94 mm in height and 59 mm in width. It bears a blind stamp located at the bottom left, with a diameter of 26 mm.
