The 300 Francs Cérès banknote, issued on February 9, 1939, is a specimen from the Banque de France. This banknote has a nominal value of 300 francs.
The front of the banknote features a representation of the head of Ceres, positioned on the left. The mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is clearly indicated, followed by the face value "TROIS CENTS FRANCS". Ernest Deloche is credited as the engraver, while Clément Serveau is identified as the designer of this side of the banknote. The inscriptions are written in the Latin alphabet.
On the back, we observe a profile head of Mercury, facing to the right. The mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is also found there. A legal inscription, referring to Article 139 of the Penal Code, warns of the penal sanctions incurred in the event of counterfeiting or falsification of banknotes authorized by law, as well as for the use of such counterfeit or falsified banknotes. The nominal value "300" is also present. As for the front, Ernest Deloche is designated as the engraver and Clément Serveau as the designer. The writing is in Latin.
The watermark on this banknote represents a profile head of Mercury, a work by Camille Chazal.
