This 300 franc banknote, Ceres type, was issued on October 6, 1938. It belongs to series D and was produced by the Banque de France.
On the front of the banknote, on the left, there is a representation of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, harvests and fertility. The mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is inscribed, followed by the face value "TROIS CENTS FRANCS".
The back of the banknote features a head of Mercury, god of commerce, travelers and thieves in Roman mythology. He is depicted in profile, facing right. The mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is also present on the back. An informative text relating to article 139 of the Penal Code is included, informing of the penal sanctions incurred in the event of counterfeiting or falsification of banknotes authorized by law, as well as for the use of such counterfeit or falsified banknotes. The face value "300" is repeated on the back.
The inscriptions are written in Latin. The dimensions of the banknote are 138 × 88 millimeters.
