This French silver 100 Francs commemorative coin, minted in 1994, pays tribute to Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny and the 50th anniversary of the landing and liberation of France. It is issued by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint).
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny. The words "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and "DE LATTRE DE TASSIGNY" are inscribed in capital letters around the portrait. The engraving is the work of Émile Rousseau.
The reverse of the coin depicts a map of Provence with three arrows indicating the locations of the Allied landing. In the foreground, we can distinguish the emblem of the Rhine and Danube army, as well as the French and American flags. The inscriptions "PROVENCE", "RHONE", "VOSGES", "ALSACE", "ALLEMAGNE" appear in an arc above the map. The face value "100F" and the year of issue "1994" are also present, as well as the mention "RHIN ET DANUBE" and the signature "DRAGOON".
