The 100 Francs Panthéon coin, minted in 1982, is a silver commemorative coin issued by France. It was specially designed for Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) sets.
On the obverse of the coin is a representation of the Panthéon in Paris. The building is accompanied by the legend "AUX GRANDS HOMMES LA PATRIE RECONNAISSANTE" (To great men, the grateful homeland). The whole is surrounded by the inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" (French Republic). The engravers responsible for this face are Jean-Claude Dieudonné and the Atelier de Gravure (A.G.M.M.). The writing used is Latin.
The reverse of the coin features, in a hexagon, a rooted tree symbolizing France. This tree is composed of an oak on the left and an olive tree on the right. The signature of the Atelier de Gravure is discreetly affixed in the roots, to the right of the rosette. The motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) encircles the hexagon. A particularity of this design lies in the orientation of the leaves: horizontal on the left to symbolize the color red in heraldry, and vertical on the right to represent the color blue, thus evoking the French flag. The face value of "100 F" is also present on this side. Daniel Gédalge and the Atelier de Gravure (A.G.M.M.) are the engravers of this reverse.
The coin is made of silver. It weighs 15 grams and has a diameter of 31 millimeters. The edge of the coin is smooth.
