This French commemorative 100 Francs silver coin, dating from 1994, pays tribute to Marie Pierre K?nig and the 50th anniversary of the Normandy landings and the liberation of France. It was struck with Proof quality.
The obverse of the coin features a bust of Marie Pierre K?nig. It also features the inscription "RF" for République Française (French Republic), as well as the name "MARIE PIERRE K?NIG" engraved.
The reverse of the coin depicts a combat scene at Bir Hakeim, the site of an important battle during World War II. The inscription "27 MAI-11 JUIN 1942 BIR HAKEIM" can be read, commemorating the battle. The face value of "100F" is also indicated, as well as the year of issue "1994".
The edge of the coin is smooth. The coin was struck by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint).
