This French 100 Francs commemorative coin, minted in 1994, pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris. It is made of 900? silver, with a weight of 22.2 grams and a diameter of 37 millimeters, and a thickness of 2.2 millimeters. Its mintage is limited to 30,000 copies. This coin is sold without its original packaging or certificate of authenticity.
The obverse of the coin features a representation of General de Gaulle walking down the Champs-Élysées, a strong symbol of the Liberation of Paris. This scene is framed by the republican motto "LIBERTÉ * ÉGALITÉ * FRATERNITÉ". The legend "République française" completes the obverse. The engraving of this face is attributed to the Atelier de Gravure (A.G.M.M.).
The reverse of the coin depicts a ROMILLY tank from General Leclerc's 2nd DB, accompanied by three resistance fighters, standing in front of Notre-Dame. This composition is surrounded by the inscription "LIBÉRATION DE PARIS", the year of issue "1994", and the face value "100F", as well as the monogram "RF" for République Française. The engraving of the reverse is also the work of the Atelier de Gravure (A.G.M.M.). The word "ROMILLY" is included in the design, referring to the type of tank depicted.
The edge of the coin is smooth. It was minted by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint). This coin commemorates a major event in the history of France, the Liberation of Paris, and is part of the "La Liberté retrouvée" series.
