This 10 franc coin, minted in silver with a fineness of 900?, weighs 25 grams and has a diameter of 37 millimeters. Its issue dates from 1965 and is part of a mintage of 8,085,500 copies.
The obverse of the coin features the inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" followed by a star, encircling the face value "10 FRANCS". This value is inscribed within a crown formed by two distinct branches, one of laurel and the other of oak. The script used is Latin.
The reverse of the coin depicts Hercules, represented naked and wearing the Nemean lion's skin, standing facing forward. He unites Liberty, located to his left and holding a spear topped with a Phrygian cap, and Equality, to his right, holding a level. The whole is surrounded by the motto "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ". The script is also Latin.
This coin was in circulation from 1965 to 1973, with a value of 10 francs (10 FRF) under the motto of the New Franc (1960-2001). The coin has a thickness of 2.7 mm and a round shape. The designer of this coin is Augustin Dupré.
