Superb silver quarter franc struck in Paris in 1841 during the reign of Louis-Philippe I (1830?1848), King of the French during the July Monarchy. This tiny coin of 15 mm in diameter ? one of the smallest silver coins in 19th-century French coinage ? represents the lowest denomination in Louis-Philippe's silver series.
The obverse features the portrait of Louis-Philippe I with the inscription LOUIS-PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS, engraved by Joseph-François Domard. The reverse displays the value ¼ FRANC within a laurel wreath with the date 1841 and the mint mark A (Paris). The edge is plain.
Coin strike. Demonetized on 1 October 1852 by the decree of 30 April 1852.
