This scene commemorates the Allied landings of June 6, 1944, on the Normandy beaches, each bearing a specific code name: Utah and Omaha for the Americans, Gold for the British, Juno for the Canadians, and Sword for the British and French forces. The engraver's signature, C. LESOT, is also visible on this side.
The reverse of the coin bears the circular legend "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ". In the center, we find the Statue of Liberty, with the flags of the Allied forces in the background. The face value of "1 FRANC" and the date "1993" are arranged in three lines in the upper left. The signature "JP GENDIS" is inscribed near the edge, on the left. The edge of the coin is smooth. It was struck by the Monnaie de Paris.
