Description

This banknote, with a face value of 5 centavos, was issued in Brazil in 1967. It is part of the New Cruzeiro series, which circulated between 1967 and 1970.

On the obverse, the banknote features a dominant purple color enhanced with polychrome patterns, created by chalcography and offset. The center of the banknote features a portrait of Princess Isabel, framed and flanked by the number 50. A round stamp, bearing the inscription "BANCO CENTRAL - 5 CENTAVOS", is also present.

The textual inscriptions include "REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL" and "CINQÜENTA CRUZEIROS". Also found are the mentions "TESOURO NACIONAL", "BANCO CENTRAL", "PRINCESA ISABEL", as well as the functions "DIRETOR", "CAIXA DE AMORTIZAÇÃO", and "MINISTRO DA FAZENDA". The mention "VALOR LEGAL" is also present. The printer, Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited, London, is mentioned.

On the reverse, the banknote features an allegorical representation of the Lei Aurea, a painting by Cadmo Fausto de Sousa. The dominant color is purple.

The textual inscriptions include "REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL" and "LEI AUREA". The number 50 is repeated. The printer, Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited, London, is also mentioned on the reverse.
