The 50 tala banknote is issued by the Central Bank of Samoa for the year 2025. It is part of the official monetary series of the Independent State of Samoa, a Polynesian archipelago in the South Pacific whose national currency is the tala, subdivided into 100 sene.
The tala has been the official currency of Samoa since 1967, when it replaced the Samoan pound. The Central Bank of Samoa, the institution responsible for the country's monetary policy, oversees the issuance and circulation of all banknotes and coins in use on the national territory.
Samoan banknotes are generally adorned with elements characteristic of Polynesian culture and nature, reflecting the visual identity unique to this island state. The 50 tala denomination is one of the highest face values in the Samoan banknote range, intended for significant transactions in the local economy.
Contemporary banknotes also incorporate various security features designed to prevent counterfeiting, such as holographic elements, security threads, and inks with special properties.
As a 2025-dated banknote, this issue represents a recent production of the Central Bank of Samoa, testifying to the continuity of the monetary sovereignty of this Commonwealth member state. The tala is among the island Pacific currencies that maintain active banknote circulation, alongside other regional currencies of Oceania.
