The 500 kwacha banknote issued by the Bank of Zambia in 2024 is part of the AA Series. This banknote has dimensions of 124 mm in length and 69 mm in width.
The front of the banknote is mainly printed in mauve and blue tones, with inscriptions in English. It features the Bank of Zambia logo, as well as a floral pattern used as a registration device. The iconography includes a tractor plowing a field, a fish eagle in flight, and a map of Zambia made in optically variable ink (OVI). The coat of arms of Zambia is also present. The banknote incorporates a windowed security thread, on which the Bank of Zambia logo and the value "20" are demetalized. The textual inscriptions include the denomination "BANK of ZAMBIA", a promise to pay the bearer, the face value "TWENTY KWACHA", and the mention "FOR THE BANK of ZAMBIA".
The back of the banknote, also with inscriptions in English, depicts a water buffalo and a candelabra tree. It also shows two standing antelopes and the Chishimba Falls. A floral pattern serves as a registration device. The inscriptions include "BANK of ZAMBIA", the national motto "ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION", and the face value "TWENTY KWACHA".
The watermark represents a fish eagle and an electrotype "20" accompanied by an additional fish eagle. The printer of this banknote is Giesecke+Devrient, located in Leipzig, Germany.
