Description

This banknote, with a nominal value of 1000 dongs, was issued by South Vietnam in 1971. It belongs to the D.1 series and measures 153 millimeters in length and 76 millimeters in width.

The front of the banknote features an architectural representation of a bank building. The graphic design highlights the details of the structure, likely reflecting the importance of the financial institution in the country's economy at that time. The composition is neat, with particular attention paid to the perspective and symmetry of the building.

On the back, the banknote is adorned with guilloche patterns. These complex designs, created from fine and interlaced lines, serve both as an aesthetic element and as a security measure to prevent counterfeiting. The guilloches form an elaborate network that covers the surface of the banknote, adding a rich and complex visual texture.

The combination of the bank building on the front and the guilloches on the back creates an interesting contrast between the representation of a concrete institution and the abstraction of decorative motifs. The whole testifies to the technical and artistic know-how implemented in the design of banknotes at that period.

This 1000 dong banknote from 1971 is a testament to the monetary history of South Vietnam, offering an insight into the symbols and motifs used to represent value and security through the art of banknote.
