Description

The 20 ??ng banknote of Vietnam, issued under the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, measures 170 × 88 mm and is distinguished by a dark red and gold print, richly decorated with ornamental motifs. On its front, the portrait of H? Chí Minh is depicted facing forward, slightly turned to the left, while a phoenix appears on the right. The inscriptions are in Lao, traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the region at that time. Official mentions include "VI?T-NAM DÂN-CH? C?NG-HOÀ", "GI?Y B?C VI?T-NAM", "HAI M??I ??NG" as well as their equivalents in Chinese characters "??????" and "???". The signatures of the Minister of Finance and the Director of the Central Treasury appear under the portrait.

The back, also printed in dark red and gold, shows a water buffalo in the center surrounded by figures representing various professions, symbolizing cooperation and collective work. On the left is a warning message against counterfeiting, while on the right the face value is written in Khmer. The serial number, printed in black, is divided into two parts composed of two letters and three digits on each side. The entire banknote is framed with intricate ornamental motifs, typical of the period.
