The 1000 Venezuelan Bolivares banknote, issued in 1998, features a complex design rich in national symbols. On the front, the dominant impression is in purple, highlighting the portrait of Simón Bolívar, reproduced from a painting by José Gil de Castro made in 1825. In the background, a representation of the monument dedicated to Bolívar is visible, adding a commemorative dimension. The newspaper "Correo del Orinoco" is also integrated into the design, occupying the lower part of the banknote.
The mention of the issuing institution, the Banco Central de Venezuela, appears at the top of the banknote. The face value of 1000 bolivares is indicated in numbers in the upper corners and bottom right, as well as in words in the center of the banknote. The date of issue, September 10, 1998, is printed below the face value. The signatures of the president and the first vice-president of the central bank are affixed under the mention "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR". A watermark is positioned to the left of Bolívar's portrait, while a tactile mark for the visually impaired is located in the center left. The serial numbers, preceded by a letter, are printed in red at the bottom left and in black at the top right.
The back of the banknote combines impressions in purple and dark blue. The National Pantheon is depicted on the right, while orchids adorn the left side. Mount Ávila appears in the background, centered on the banknote. The Venezuelan coat of arms is located on the left. The name of the issuer is repeated at the top, and the face value is indicated in numbers in the upper right and lower left corners, as well as in words in the lower right corner and on the left edge. The name of the printer is mentioned at the bottom left. The watermark visible on the back is the same as on the front, reproducing the portrait of Simón Bolívar by José Gil de Castro. The dimensions of the banknote are 156 mm in length and 69 mm in width.
