This Transnistrian banknote has a face value of 50,000 rubles, overprinted on a 5 ruble note, and was issued in 1994. It commemorates A. V. Suvorov and the Parliament.
The obverse of the note features a portrait of General Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov (1730-1800), a historical figure and founder of Tiraspol. The inscription "?????????????" (Transnistria) appears at the top of the note. The words "????? 5 ??????" (Coupon 5 Rubles) indicate the overprinted face value. The designations of the issuing bank, "????? ????????", "??????????????? ????" and "???????????????? ????" are printed in Russian and Ukrainian.
The reverse of the note depicts the Parliament building in Tiraspol. This building is a symbol of the legislative power of the region. The banknote measures 125 mm long and 57 mm wide. The original face value of 5 rubles is also mentioned.
This banknote is an example of the period of economic and monetary transition in Transnistria, marked by hyperinflation and the need to issue high-value denominations by overprinting. The choice to depict Suvorov and the Parliament underscores the importance of the region's history and political institutions.
