Rama VIII, also known as King Ananda Mahidol, came to power as the eighth king of the Chakri dynasty in Thailand on March 2, 1935. He ascended to the throne at the age of nine, following the death of his uncle, King Rama VII, on March 2, 1935. Due to his young age, a regency was established until he reached adulthood. He was officially declared of age by the Privy Council of the kingdom and was crowned king on March 9, 1935. However, his reign was marked by periods of political turmoil and instability, and he died under mysterious circumstances in 1946, at the age of 20.
