This Somali banknote, with a face value of 50 new shillings, was issued in 1991. It is part of a series identified by the code "AS". Its dimensions are 140 millimeters in length by 70 millimeters in width.
The front of the banknote features a scene depicting a man weaving. The inscription "BANKIGA DHEXE EE SOOMAALIYA" appears on it, indicating the Central Bank of Somalia as the issuing institution. The face value, "N 50", is also inscribed, along with the denomination "SHILLIN SOOMAALI". The script used on this side is Latin.
The back of the banknote illustrates a man accompanied by children, traveling on a donkey. A banana tree is also represented in this scene. The writings on this side are in both Arabic and Latin.
The banknote's watermark depicts Sayyid Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, a Somali historical figure.
