The 500 Slovenian tolarjev banknote, issued in 1992, is part of a commemorative series. This banknote pays tribute to Jo?e Ple?nik, a renowned Slovenian architect, notably known for his contributions to the city of Ljubljana.
On the front of the banknote, the hand-engraved portrait of Jo?e Ple?nik is featured as the main motif. This portrait is complemented by a profile silhouette created in micro-writing. On the left, a drawing representing a pair of compasses and a circle is visible. The inscriptions "BANKA SLOVENIJE" and "PETSTO TOLARJEV" also appear on this side, as well as the architect's dates of birth and death: "Jo?e Ple?nik (1872 - 1957)". The nominal value "500" is indicated in numerals.
The back of the banknote features a drawing of the eastern facade of the National and University Library of Ljubljana, a building designed by Ple?nik. A plan of the library is reproduced in the lower part of the banknote.
The watermark of the banknote depicts the face of Jo?e Ple?nik. The dimensions of the banknote are 150 × 75 mm.
