This Slovenian banknote, with a face value of 50 tolarjev, was issued in 1992. It belongs to the "ME" commemorative series and pays tribute to Jurij Vega, an 18th-century Slovenian mathematician.
The front of the banknote is dominated by shades of pink, purple and orange. The main motif is a black and white portrait of Jurij Vega, made by manual engraving. The profile silhouette of the mathematician is filled with micro-writings. On the left, a motif extracted from Vega's treatise on the sphere is printed in intaglio. The inscriptions "BANKA SLOVENIJE", "50", "PETDESET TOLARJEV" (fifty tolarjev) and "Jurij Vega (1754-1802)" can be read in the Latin alphabet. The engravers responsible for the design of the front are Miljenko Licul, Zvone Kosovelj and Rudi ?panzel.
The back of the banknote features a blue and multicoloured underprint. It illustrates the solar system and a drawing of the facade of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU). The inscriptions "50", "PETDESET TOLARJEV" and "BANKA SLOVENIJE" also appear on it. As with the front, the engravers are Miljenko Licul, Zvone Kosovelj and Rudi ?panzel.
The banknote's watermark represents the face of Jurij Vega. The dimensions of the banknote are 132 mm long and 66 mm wide. Its value is 50 tolars, abbreviated as 50 Tolarjev or 50 SIT.
