This banknote, with a face value of 2 new francs, equivalent to 100 francs, was issued in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon in 1963. It belongs to series Z.44 and features a provisional overprint indicating "Nouveau Franc".
On the front, the banknote features a portrait of Bertrand François Mahé de La Bourdonnais (1699-1753), a French naval officer and colonial administrator who served the French East India Company. There is also a representation of two indigenous women. The Latin inscriptions mention the Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer, the value of 100 francs, the counter-value of 2 new francs, as well as the place of issue, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. The names of the artists involved in the design of the banknote are also indicated: W. Fel. Fec. and R. Armanelli Sc., respectively designer and engraver.
The back of the banknote features an indigenous woman. The inscriptions, also in Latin, recall the Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer, the value of 100 francs, and the place of issue. A legal notice is present, recalling Article 139 of the Penal Code which punishes counterfeiters and falsifiers of banknotes authorized by law. The names of the artists who worked on this part of the banknote are also mentioned: W. Fel. Fec. and G. Régnier Sc., respectively designer and engraver.
The watermark represents a woman's head seen in three-quarter view. The banknote was printed by the Banque de France. Its dimensions are 158 × 85 mm.
