This 50 pence banknote was issued by the Government of St. Helena in 1979. It is part of the V/1 series.
The front of the banknote features a scene of Jamestown harbour, where three sailing ships can be seen at anchor with the island's mountains in the background. On the right, a rosette composition accompanies the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It features the inscriptions "Government of St. Helena", the face value "50p" repeated twice, the promise to pay the bearer the sum of "Fifty pence" and the mention "CURRENCY COMMISSIONERS".
The back of the note features the coat of arms of the East India Company on the left, while the colonial seal is visible on the right.
The note is predominantly green in colour with polychrome motifs. The texts are in Latin script. Its dimensions are 140 mm long and 60 mm wide.
