This banknote was issued in Romania in 2005. Its face value is 100 lei. The banknote belongs to Series B.
The obverse of the banknote features a portrait of the playwright Ion Luca Caragiale, who lived from 1852 to 1912. There is also a depiction of a violet flower (Viola sororia) and two theatrical masks, symbols of his work. The coat of arms of Romania is also present, as well as the name of the issuing bank and its logo (BNR). The face value of the banknote is indicated in numbers and letters. The authorized signatures of the governor and the chief cashier, as well as the date of issue, also appear on this side.
The reverse of the banknote depicts the old National Theatre of Bucharest. A statue of Caragiale is also depicted. The face value of the banknote is indicated in numbers and letters. The name of the issuing bank is repeated, and the BNR logo appears in the upper right and lower left corners.
