To mark the 2022 vintage, the Portuguese Monetary Institute drew inspiration from the Portuguese modernist movement to design its BU 2022 box set.

Portugal's euro coins all have different designs with a common theme for each of the three types. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict the Royal Seal of 1134, the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins the Royal Seal of 1142 and the 1 and 2 euro coins the Royal Seal of 1144.
