Description

Issued in 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this Quarter Dollar is part of the exceptional commemorative program of the American Semiquincentennial 1776-2026. This coin was struck at the Denver Mint and bears the D mint mark.

The obverse features the portrait of George Washington, a key figure of the War of Independence and the first President of the United States. It is accompanied by the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the dual date "1776-2026".

The reverse pays tribute to the American Revolutionary War. It depicts a Continental Army soldier in front of a camp evoking Valley Forge, where George Washington's army spent the winter of 1777-1778. The inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "25¢" and "REVOLUTIONARY WAR".

This issue is part of the designs specially created in 2026 to celebrate the events and personalities that shaped the birth of the United States.
