Issued in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, this 1/2 Dollar is part of the exceptional American Semiquincentennial programme 1776-2026. This coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and bears the P mint mark.

The obverse features a contemporary interpretation of the Statue of Liberty, shown in close-up. The monumental portrait is accompanied by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the dual date "1776-2026". The mint mark P appears in the lower portion of the coin.

The reverse illustrates the passing of Liberty to future generations. A hand holding the torch of the Statue of Liberty symbolically passes it to another hand. The composition is accompanied by the quote "KNOWLEDGE IS THE ONLY GUARDIAN OF TRUE LIBERTY", along with the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "HALF DOLLAR".

This issue, specially created for 2026, celebrates Liberty, its transmission and the founding values of the United States on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
