Description

Issued in 2026 as part of the American Innovation $1 Coin program, this United States 1 dollar coin represents the state of Minnesota and celebrates an innovation that profoundly transformed the transportation and distribution of food products: mobile refrigeration.

The reverse depicts a 1940s truck fitted with a front-mounted refrigeration unit. Various symbols on the vehicle evoke the temperature-sensitive goods whose long-distance transport was made possible by the development of this technology. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "MINNESOTA" and "MOBILE REFRIGERATION" complete the design.

The obverse, common to the American Innovation series, features the Statue of Liberty in profile, accompanied by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "$1". For 2026, the privy mark also includes a Liberty Bell and the number 250, referencing the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The coin has an edge inscription bearing the year 2026, the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the mint mark: D for Denver or P for Philadelphia.

Specifications: United States - 2026 - 1 Dollar - 26.49 mm - 8.10 g - alloy of copper, zinc, manganese and nickel - lettered edge. The composition as stated by the U.S. Mint is 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel, with the remainder being copper.

This coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and bears the mintmark P on the edge.
