Description
Issued in 2026 as part of the American Innovation $1 Coin program, this United States 1 dollar coin represents the state of Minnesota and celebrates an innovation that profoundly transformed the transport and distribution of food products: mobile refrigeration.
The reverse features a 1940s truck equipped with a front-mounted refrigeration unit. Various symbols on the vehicle evoke the temperature-sensitive goods whose long-distance transportation was made possible by the development of this technology. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "MINNESOTA" and "MOBILE REFRIGERATION" complete the design.
The obverse common to the American Innovation series features the Statue of Liberty in profile, accompanied by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "$1". For 2026, the privy mark ? usually a gear ? also incorporates a Liberty Bell and the number 250, in reference to the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The coin has an edge inscription bearing the year 2026, the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the mint mark: D for Denver or P for Philadelphia.
Specifications: United States - 2026 - 1 Dollar - 26.49 mm - 8.10 g - alloy of copper, zinc, manganese and nickel - lettered edge. The U.S. Mint specifies 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel, with the remainder being copper.
This example was struck at the Denver Mint and bears the mint mark D on the edge.
