Description
Issued in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, this 1/4 Dollar coin celebrates the U.S. Constitution, one of the founding documents of American history.
The obverse features the portrait of James Madison, fourth President of the United States and a key figure in the drafting of the Constitution. It is accompanied by the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the dates "1776-2026". The mint mark P indicates that the coin was struck in Philadelphia.
The reverse depicts Independence Hall in Philadelphia, an iconic landmark of American history where the nation's great founding documents were debated and adopted. The famous phrase "WE THE PEOPLE", which opens the preamble to the United States Constitution, holds a prominent place in the design.
The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "U.S. CONSTITUTION" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" complete the reverse.
